The poll results are in! Local Voices United recently conducted an informal poll of our readers (that’s you!), asking how legislators did this year when it comes to local decision-making. Here are the results:
Generally speaking, a super-majority of respondents agree with the concept that local decision-making is preferable to one-size-fits-all policymaking from Tallahassee bureaucrats.
On the issues, respondents overwhelmingly stated that protecting local trees and green spaces was the most important local issue addressed this year. Local solutions to short-term rentals followed, while an even spread of respondents said that prohibiting smoking at beaches and parks and the regulation of home-based businesses were the most important local issues.
Respondents also indicated that a number of issues like public health, affordable housing, zoning rules and public safety were the top local issues facing their communities.
