Welcome to the Florida Local Government 101 Course.

This program is designed for anyone who wants a clearer understanding of how local government works in Florida. You do not need any prior experience with government or public policy. Each lesson uses short videos and simple examples to explain how cities are formed, how they make decisions, what services they provide, and how transparency and accountability are maintained.

The course is organized in a step-by-step sequence. You will begin with the basics of what a city is, move into how different types of local governments fit together, learn how local authority works, and finish with how meetings and records stay open to the public.

After every video, you will take a brief quiz. These quizzes are straightforward and are meant to reinforce what you just learned, not challenge you with detailed policy questions.

There is no set pace. You can complete the course all at once or a little at a time. Once you finish all modules and quizzes, you will receive a certificate confirming your completion. You can download or print your certificate for your own use.

This course aims to give you a better understanding of the local government systems that affect your daily life and the communities where you live, work, and raise a family.
