New Bill Would Mean Higher Garbage Fees, More Trucks Clogging Roads
Take 30-seconds to help stop it from happening.
Do you want to pay more for trash collection, or add even more garbage trucks on the road? That’s exactly what will happen if HB 975 becomes law.
Lawmakers are considering a bill that would result in rate hikes for trash pick-up by preventing cities from self-providing solid waste services and franchise agreements that keep costs low and ensure public safety.
It wouldn’t make sense for a city to have competing police or fire departments — and it doesn’t make sense to have multiple garbage companies with overlapping service areas operating at all hours in our neighborhoods.
HB 975 will not only increase traffic congestion and lead to trash sitting outside for extended periods, it also threatens public safety by increasing heavy truck traffic and will promote more illegal dumping, degrading our local quality of life.
